Increasing Your Case Acceptance with the Medit Smile Design App

Increasing Your Case Acceptance with the Medit Smile Design App

So, you have your Medit scanner, now what? There’s a ton of features that Medit can do to enhance your dental practice. One of the tools your patient will definitely appreciate is the Medit Smile Design App.

In a nutshell, the Medit Smile Design app shows your patient their future smile. It works miracles for case presentation and starting conversations for any treatment you offer your patients. True to its name, the Smile Design app allows you to simulate smiles for your patient and show them the best smile that they can possibly have.

How convenient is it? Well, for a start, you don’t even need to scan your patients. All you need are pictures of your patient’s natural smile and gumline. No intrusive procedures necessary, which helps ensure patient comfortability and peace of mind.

From there, you can already start customizing your patient’s smile. Choose from a number of options to map out your patient’s teeth so you can design your treatment for that perfect smile.

So, let’s get started. Here are the basic steps to follow to use your Medit Smile Design app.

How to use your Medit Smile Design App

Follow the steps shown in this video to show your patient a before and after of how different their smile could be. There’s a ton of options that you can do to customize your patient’s smile to exactly what they are looking for.

If your patient has a celebrity smile they would like to copy, the Smile Design app and Medit have a texture library that you can download. This library has a number of template smiles that you can use to help your patient get the smile that they want.

What’s great about this app is that you can show the possible results to your patient almost immediately. If you walk through the process with your patient, you’ll be able to show them how you plan to work on your proposed treatment.

Now that you have a basic overview of how your Smile Design app works, here are some tips to help keep your patient’s mind at ease while using Medit’s features.

Tips On Work Practices

First and foremost, believe in yourself. If you don’t believe you can sell it to your patient, you probably can’t. Have fun with it and be confident that you know what you’re doing.

Your patient has already expressed interest by going to you for a consultation, so by being open and confident you’ve already won half the battle.

Second is teamwork. It’s important to have your whole team on the same page when it comes to case acceptance strategies.

One example would be to have your front desk print out the before and after photos. So, when your patient goes out to pay, your front desk teammate can assure your patient that their smile is well cared for while offering any support that the patient may need.

It helps if every person your patient interacts with in your clinic reinforces positive thoughts around the treatment plan.

Finally, there’s the follow-up take home piece. This is basically anything that your patient can take home to help them review and share the treatment plan and other services that your clinic can offer. Through the Smile Design app, you can export the images that you’ve worked on then either put it on your slides or print it out for your patient.

Of course, there’s the follow up calls where you contact your patient a few days after the consultation. Just check in if they’re interested in moving forward with the treatment. This gives the impression that you are really invested in what your patient wants.

About Evident:

Before becoming a Medit distributor, Evident has been a design center for 5 years and has now grown to be one of the world's largest and leading CAD design centers in the world. It is because of our experience working with labs and dentists in their digital workflow that we understand how to implement scanning into practice and make it easy and profitable. The biggest mistake scanner companies make is thinking that just digitizing the impressions is “going digital”, but once you step into that digital world, you need to look at how you digitize not only the impression but the whole case. That includes photos, CBCTs, communication, the prescription and anything you need to send to your lab. And that is where we come in.
